Follow @tannercNewt was a private, really fast geolocation api for small businesses.
Developed after months of research, hand‒collecting data, and building a U.S. city database combinging several sources, what was initially started as a personal challenge quickly became a powerful tool. The Newt API uses modern web capabilities to detect a geo location, takes a fraction of a second to specify which database to query for additional details, makes a digital reference, and produces geo information via JSON or a similar output.
Newt became a private API, now owned by a third party, during late October 2010.
